Department has again introduced khaki uniforms to Postman/Multiskilled employees vide Directorate letter No 2-33/2008-UPE dated 9.12.2009. The present dark blue trousers and a light blue full-sleeved shirt in polyester cotton cloth for male employees and light blue sari, with a dark blue border for female employees was introduced in the Department in the year 2004 to mark Department's 150th anniversary.
Department called for suggestions from the Unions/Associations during October 2008 as there was a demand to change the colour of the uniform. Now the Department has again introduced the khaki colour uniform the Postman and multi skilled employees
The India Post is moving forward with inclusion of new technologies and broadening its services. However, it appears the mindset of the employees wilol take time to accomodate the changes. A light blue Polo shirt, Black colour trouser would have been more elegant and appropriate to project the Modern and Efficient India Post through its employees.
