IT Modernization-Project Initiates in the Postal Department

Dear Comrades,

On September 24th 2009 Department of Posts signed a contract with M/S Accenture Services Pvt.Ltd under the IT-Modernization-Mission Mode Project. Under the project IT consultant would help Department of Posts in creation of IT infrastructure, Core Banking Solutions,Single integrated software, E- Commerce,Money remittances e.t.c.The new system is expected to use the technology to enable the last mile connectivity and use technology to efficiently provide universal services to every citizen.This will establish Postal Department as the one stop shop for all citzen centric services catering to the needs of the common man across the length and breadth of the nation.Accenture will work with DOP on this project for duration of 45 months starting from September 2009.DOP has already initiated the process of Business process Reengineering for all its products as well as for process and geared up its senior management, for large scale revamp,prior to the actual appointment of consulant.
