The working group of National Committee on the international Women's Year at its second meeting held during August 1975 made the following recommendations
"The various bodies which are concerned with the selection of candidates are generally composed of men.There are instances to show that there is discrimination against women which is a part of the prevailing social attitude. The removal of such attitude will take some time.Mean while, however, it seems necessary that women members should be appointed to the various bodies concerned with selection" on this the Government issued an order dtd 17/12/197 , in that order department issued instructions to various ministries/department to ensure that there should be no discrimination against women on ground of sex.Now the department issued a fresh order No.35021/2/2009 dtd 30/06/09 and ordered to all appointing authorities of all ministries/departments may be instructed to scrupulously observe the following guide lines
1.The composition of selection committees should be representatve.It should be mandatory to have one women member in the selection Boards/Committees fo making recruitment to ten or more vacancies and lady candidates are expected to be available for the service/post.
2.Where the number of vacancies against which selection is to be made is
less than 10, no efforts should be spared in, finding a lady officer for
inclusion in such Committees / Boards
3.In the event of such an officer not being available in the Ministry /
Department itself, there is no objection to nominating lady officer from
any other office at the same station.
