AITUC General Secretary Sri Grudas Dasgupta on Saturday alleged that the Centre was planning to suspend trade union laws in key industrial zones across the country after notifying them as national economic zones.Addressing a press conference at Hyderabad the senior trade union leader said it was a move being contemplated against the workers rights. As it is, the violation of trade union laws was notoriously high in the country, more so in the unorganised sector he stated. The government had also failed to set up regional welfare boards promised for the welfare of unorganised sector workers. All major trade unions, including INTUC, AITUC, CITU, HMS and others, had come together for the first time in 30 years in New Delhi recently under the chairmanship of INTUC president Sri G.Sanjeevareddy and had decided to fight against price rise.
